Former India pacer Venkatesh Prasad unveiled his panel’s manifesto for the upcoming Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) elections, stressing the urgent need to restore cricket and glory to the iconic M Chinnaswamy Stadium.
Matches Halted After Tragedy
No games have been staged at the venue since the June 4 stampede that claimed 11 lives during a Royal Challengers Bengaluru event. The ground also risks losing next month’s ICC Women’s World Cup fixtures.
Call for Stronger Coordination
“That’s something that shouldn’t have happened. We must be proactive in liaising with the government and ensure matches resume at the Chinnaswamy as early as possible,” Prasad said while releasing the manifesto.
Plans for Smart Stadium
The manifesto outlines refurbishing the stadium into a smart, future-ready venue with advanced facilities. Expanding its capacity from 35,000 to 50,000 and developing another world-class stadium in Mysuru are also part of the roadmap.
The KSCA elections are expected in October or November, once the current regime under Raghuram Bhat completes its term on September 30.
