Shymkent, Kazakhstan – Indian shooters continued their impressive run at the Asian Shooting Championships 2025 on Tuesday, with Manu Bhaker securing a bronze medal in the 10m air pistol women’s event. Adding to India’s medal tally, Rashmika Sahgal clinched the gold in the junior women’s category, marking a strong day for the nation’s pistol shooters.
Manu Bhaker’s Senior Bronze
In the highly competitive 10m air pistol women’s final, Manu Bhaker demonstrated her prowess by amassing 219.7 points to secure the third position. She finished behind South Korea’s Jiin Yang, who scored 241.6 points, and China’s Qianke Ma, who took the gold with an impressive 243.2 points. Earlier, Manu had showcased consistent form in the qualifying round, securing her spot in the eight-player final by tallying 583 points, placing her second in the standings. China’s Qianxun Yao topped the qualification with 584. Unfortunately, her teammates Suruchi Singh and Palak Gulia did not make the cut for the final round.
Rashmika Sahgal’s Double Gold in Junior Events
The junior competition saw a dominant performance from Rashmika Sahgal. She secured the gold medal in the individual 10m air pistol junior women’s event, scoring a total of 241.9 points. Korea’s Seunghyun Han took silver with 237.6 points, while Yejin Kim, also from Korea, claimed bronze with 215.1 points.
Rashmika’s success extended to the team event as well. She, along with teammates Vanshika Chaudhary and Mohini Singh, secured another gold medal for India in the junior women’s team 10m air pistol event. The trio collectively scored 1720 points, finishing ahead of South Korea (1698) and Kazakhstan (1662).
Senior Team Also Clinches Bronze
The Indian women’s senior team also contributed to the medal haul, clinching a bronze medal in the 10m air pistol team event. The team, comprising Manu Bhaker, Suruchi Singh, and Palak Gulia, finished with 1730 points. They were just one point behind second-placed Republic of Korea (1731) and 10 points adrift of gold medallist China (1740).
