New Delhi : India’s Arjun Babuta and Elavenil Valarivan produced a stunning performance to win gold in the 10m air rifle mixed team event at the Asian Rifle/Pistol Championship 2026, setting both a world record and a championship record.
The Indian pair scored 505 points in the final, surpassing the previous world record of 502.7, which had been set by Germany’s Hanna Buehlmeyer and Maximilian Ulbrich at the ISSF Grand Prix in Slovenia. With this effort, Babuta and Elavenil also successfully defended their Asian title.

India (Babuta–Elavenil): 505 — Gold
South Korea (Kim Woorim–Kwon Eunji): 501 — Silver
Japan (Naoya Okada–Misaki Nobata): 437.9 — Bronze

Elavenil Valarivan later reflected on her performance, saying she is currently enjoying her sport more and feels mentally stronger due to experience gained in major global competitions.
