New Delhi : At the 68th National Shooting Championship Competitions held at Dr Karni Singh Shooting Range in New Delhi, Army marksman Ajay Kumar delivered a composed and commanding performance to clinch the gold medal in the Men’s 10 m Air Pistol event.

In a thrilling finale that kept spectators on edge, Kumar topped the scoreboard with 241.1 points, narrowly fending off Shubham Bisla of Railways, who took silver with 240.1, while Anmol Jain from Haryana secured the bronze.

“Every shot counts in a final. I stayed focused and tried to execute each one with calm precision,” Kumar said, reflecting on his victory after the event. (Quote adapted from press interactions)

Youth Sensation and Team Heroes

The day also belonged to Karnataka’s Jonathan Gavin Antony, who impressed across categories by completing a rare treble—winning gold in Sub-Youth, Youth and Junior pistol events. His versatility and consistency earned widespread praise from fellow competitors and coaches alike.

Meanwhile, the shotgun range witnessed intense action as Tamil Nadu emerged victorious in the Senior and Junior Trap Mixed Team events, edging out strong challenges from Madhya Pradesh and Haryana in closely fought finals.

Rising Stars and Close Calls

Other notable performers included Haryana’s Shiva Narwal, who narrowly missed the medal tally, and solid contributions from shooters across the Navy and Rajasthan teams, showcasing the depth and competitive spirit in Indian shooting sports.

As the championships draw to a close, the spotlight shines brightly on Ajay Kumar’s gold and Jonathan Gavin Antony’s remarkable sweep, marking a memorable chapter in the national shooting calendar.
