Dewald Brevis caught the attention of everyone once again in the 3rd and final T20I versus Australia in Cairns. The versatile South African batter played a superb knock of 53 runs from 26 balls, helping South Africa get to 172/8 in 20 overs. Thereafter, Australia beat South Africa by 2 wickets with Glenn Maxwell’s unbeaten half-century making the difference in the end. With this win, the Aussies won the three-match series 2-1.
However, Brevis needs to be celebrated for his impact. After smashing the 2nd-fastest T20I hundred for South Africa and becoming the side’s youngest centurion in the 2nd clash in Darwin, the batter hammered a 22-ball fifty in the 3rd. He smashed 14 sixes in these two matches. South Africa, in total, hammered 18 in the series. This series belonged to Brevis, who proved his mettle for the Proteas. He is indeed a special talent.
The batter came to the crease when his side was 32/2. Soon it became 49/3. He added 61 runs alongside Tristan Stubbs thereafter before perishing. Maxwell took a stupendous catch to dismiss the batter off Nathan Ellis’ bowling. Brevis hit his 2nd fifty-plus score in T20Is.
