Kolkata, August 7, 2025 – Mohammedan Sporting Club ended their 2025 Durand Cup journey on a high with a commanding 3-0 victory over Border Security Force Football Team (BSF FT) in their final Group B fixture at the Kishore Bharati Krirangan on Wednesday.
Although both teams had already been knocked out of contention for the knockout stages, Mohammedan SC displayed professionalism and attacking intent throughout the match.
Sajal Bag Opens The Scoring Early
The Black and White Brigade started aggressively and were rewarded almost immediately when skipper Sajal Bag calmly slotted home a penalty in the 5th minute after a BSF FT defender was penalized for a handball inside the box.
Maxion Doubles The Advantage
Mohammedan’s dominance continued as Maharabam Maxion extended the lead in the 21st minute. A rebounded shot fell kindly for the forward, who made no mistake in guiding the ball past the BSF goalkeeper to make it 2-0.
Stunning Strike Seals The Game
Just before the halftime break, Maxion struck again — this time with a sensational curling effort from outside the box. The strike flew into the top corner, leaving the goalkeeper helpless and effectively putting the match out of BSF FT’s reach.
Comfortable Second Half Display
The second half saw a more measured approach from Mohammedan SC, who controlled possession and denied BSF FT any real opportunity to mount a comeback. Despite occasional threats from BSF forwards Kishori and Navjot, the Mohammedan backline remained resolute, ensuring a clean sheet.
A Positive End Despite Early Exit
With this win, Mohammedan SC finished their group stage campaign on a positive note. Though the result had no impact on the standings, the performance will boost confidence ahead of upcoming domestic competitions.
The match also served as a reminder of the attacking talent within the Mohammedan ranks, especially the standout performance by Maxion, who finished with a brace and was instrumental in the final third.
