Kolkata : The 134th edition of the Durand Cup, Asia’s oldest football tournament, takes place from July 23 to August 23, 2025, featuring 24 teams competing across five Indian states. The tournament includes top Indian Super League clubs such as East Bengal FC, Mohun Bagan Super Giant, NorthEast United FC (the defending champions), alongside teams from the League and armed forces.
The 24 teams are divided into six groups of four, playing round-robin matches within their groups. The six group winners and two best runners-up advance to the knockout stage, which leads to quarterfinals, semifinals, and the grand final slated for August 23 at the historic Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan (Salt Lake Stadium), Kolkata.
Matches will be held in Kolkata, Jamshedpur, Shillong, Kokrajhar, and Imphal, with notable fixtures including East Bengal vs Namdhari FC on August 6 at Kolkata. The event serves as the curtain-raiser to the Indian domestic football season and promises exciting encounters among established clubs and armed force teams, alongside participation from foreign teams like the Malaysian Armed Forces.
Broadcast coverage spans Sony TEN channels for telecast and Sony LIV for streaming, ensuring fans across India and abroad can watch the games live. The tournament is a celebration of football heritage combined with competitive modern play, drawing strong local and international interest.
