Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Monday inaugurated the 69th National School Games at the TRC Football Ground by ceremonially kicking a football.
Sports as a unifying force
Abdullah said sports play a crucial role in fostering unity, friendship, and understanding among youth from diverse parts of the country.
“Sports build bridges of unity and friendship. I am delighted to be here at the inauguration of the 69th National School Games,” he said.
Government support assured
The Chief Minister assured the participants of full government support and urged them to enjoy their stay in Kashmir.
“If any of you face any inconvenience or need assistance, do not hesitate to approach us. We will do everything possible to make your stay and participation comfortable,” he added.
Participation from across India
As many as 30 teams representing various states and union territories will compete across six venues in football, wushu, taekwondo, and table tennis.
The National School Games, organised annually, aim to promote sportsmanship and identify young talent from schools across India.
Dignitaries attend ceremony
The event was attended by Minister for Youth Services and Sports Satish Sharma, Advisor to the CM Nasir Aslam Wani, MLA Lal Chowk Sheikh Ahsan Ahmed, and officials of the sports department and sports council.
