Kolkata : The Sports Authority of India (SAI), through its National Centre of Excellence (NCOE) in Kolkata, recently felicitated two of its star archers—Sahil Rajesh Jadhav and Shrey Bhardwaj—for their extraordinary achievements on the global stage. Their performances not only brought glory to the country but also highlighted the strength of India’s archery development programs.
Sahil Rajesh Jadhav shone at the FISU World University Games held in Germany, clinching gold in the men’s individual compound category and securing silver as part of the men’s compound team. His precision and composure in high-pressure matches earned widespread acclaim.
Shrey Bhardwaj delivered a standout performance at the World Police and Fire Games in Alabama, USA. He won an impressive three gold medals across the outdoor, 3D, and field recurve disciplines—demonstrating remarkable versatility and consistency across formats.
Both athletes credited their success to the rigorous training regime, facilities, and coaching they received at the SAI NCOE in Kolkata. The center currently houses 47 archers competing across compound, recurve, and para archery divisions. Over the past two years, its archers have brought home 23 national and five international gold medals, making it a cornerstone for India’s archery progress.
The celebration ceremony not only honored the athletes but also served to inspire the upcoming generation of Indian archers, reaffirming SAI’s commitment to nurturing Olympic and international talent.
