Former Barcelona player Carles Perez missed a key UEFA Conference League match for Greek club Aris Thessaloniki after suffering a dog bite injury earlier this week.
Incident During Walk
Perez, 27, was injured while trying to separate his dog from another during a walk. The forward sustained a bite on the inside of his leg, which required stitches.
“I had the misfortune of suffering a bite while trying to separate my dog from another during a minor and unexpected incident,” Perez wrote on Instagram.
Stitches Rule Him Out
The injury, though not serious, meant Perez was not fit enough to play. “The wound required stitches, which prevents me from being in optimal condition to compete tonight,” he added.
He also expressed disappointment over missing the match and said he was recovering at home. “I’m very sorry I can’t be on the field. I expect to return in a few days,” he said.
Aris Crash Out
Aris drew 2-2 with Araz-Naxçıvan in the second leg of the Conference League qualifier. But the Azerbaijani club progressed 4-3 on aggregate, having won the first leg 2-1.
Perez’s Journey
Carles Perez came through Barcelona’s La Masia academy and made his La Liga debut in 2019. He later moved to AS Roma before joining Celta Vigo, who loaned him to Aris for the current season.
