Egypt : The 2025 World Squash Junior Championships, held from July 21 to August 1 at New Cairo’s Black Ball Sporting Club, has once again cemented Egypt’s dominance in junior squash. This prestigious event attracted 234 of the best under-19 players worldwide, competing first in individual matches and then in team championships. Egypt’s own Amina Orfi and Mohamad Zakaria retained their individual titles with commanding straight-game victories over fellow Egyptians. Orfi made history by becoming the first player to win the world juniors four times, while Zakaria followed up his previous victory, maintaining Egypt’s exceptional legacy in the sport. The Black Ball Sporting Club, hosting the Championships for the first time since 1996 (boys) and 2003 (girls), provided world-class facilities with 16 glass-backed courts and international broadcast capabilities. This event also highlights squash’s growing buzz as it nears its Olympic debut in 2028, bringing even greater attention and stakes to the junior circuit.
Beyond Egypt’s sweep in individual titles, the event also showcased the global nature of the sport, featuring strong contingents from the USA, Korea, England, India, and Pakistan. India’s 12-member team was led by Anahat Singh, seeded second in the women’s draw, reflecting the rising competition. The tournament’s format ensured players gained extensive international experience with a knockout and a consolation system. After individual play concluded on July 26, the intense team championships began, further intensifying national pride and competition through August 1. Egypt’s leadership in junior squash development, backed by the Egyptian Squash Federation and supported by WSF, confirms the championships as a vital platform shaping the next generation of world-class players.
