Alexander Bublik Claims Second Straight Title in Kitzbühel

Prague, Czech Republic – In a remarkable display of consistency on the ATP and WTA tours, Kazakhstan’s Alexander Bublik secured his second consecutive tournament victory at the Generali Open in Kitzbühel, while local favorite Marie Bouzkova fought back to clinch her second career Prague Open title. Both triumphs unfolded on Saturday, July 26, 2025, underscoring their growing presence in the tennis world.

Bublik’s Unstoppable Momentum Continues on Clay

Alexander Bublik, the world number 30, extended his impressive run of form by overpowering Frenchman Arthur Cazaux with a commanding 6-4, 6-3 victory in the Kitzbühel final. This win marks Bublik’s third trophy of the 2025 season, adding to his previous successes on grass in Halle (where he famously upset World No. 1 Jannik Sinner) and his title in Gstaad just last week.

His dominance over Cazaux was particularly notable, as he defeated the Frenchman for the second week in a row, having also knocked him out en route to the Gstaad title. This extends Bublik’s head-to-head record against Cazaux to a perfect 3-0. The 28-year-old Kazakh has been in scorching form since his quarterfinal appearance at Roland Garros in late May, boasting a formidable 17-2 record. This latest triumph is projected to elevate his PIF ATP Live Ranking five spots to World No. 25, significantly boosting his seeding prospects for the upcoming US Open.

“I can’t believe I did it as it was probably one of the toughest weeks in my life because coming from Gstaad, playing here, different conditions and raining,” Bublik shared after the match, highlighting the demanding nature of his back-to-back victories. “I’m pleased I got through and thank you for supporting me throughout the tournament.”

Bouzkova Defends Home Turf with Resilient Performance

In an all-Czech final at the Livesport Prague Open, Marie Bouzkova delighted her home crowd by staging a powerful comeback to defeat top seed Linda Noskova. After dropping the first set 2-6, the 47th-ranked Bouzkova, 27, found her rhythm to win the next two sets 6-1, 6-3, securing her second WTA singles title. Both of Bouzkova’s career championships have come at this very event, having first won it in 2022.

Bouzkova’s victory makes her the first repeat champion at the Prague Open since the tournament was upgraded to a WTA 250 in 2015. This win was especially significant for Bouzkova, who had faced a challenging record in previous finals, losing six of her prior seven championship matches. The final was also the ninth all-Czech tour-level singles final since the Czech Republic’s independence in 1993, and the third such final held at this particular event.

Both Bublik and Bouzkova will now look to carry their winning momentum from the clay courts into the crucial hardcourt season, as they prepare for the final Grand Slam of the year, the US Open.
