Bhubaneswar : Fauja Singh, the inspirational figure known worldwide as the “Turbaned Tornado” and believed to be the oldest marathon runner, has died at 114 after a tragic hit-and-run in his native Punjab village. Singh was walking near Beas, Jalandhar district, when an unidentified vehicle struck him in the afternoon. He sustained critical head injuries and passed away at a private hospital later the same evening. Police have registered a case and are searching for the driver involved in the accident.

He rose to global prominence for completing marathons well past his 100th birthday—he famously finished the Toronto Marathon at 100, though Guinness did not certify his record due to missing birth documents. His personal mantra, “care for your own body,” resonated globally as he continued walking several miles daily even at 114.
