Colombia completed the FIFA World Cup 2026 Round of 16 lineup with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Ghana, extending their unbeaten run in the tournament to four matches and booking a last-16 showdown against Switzerland.
Playing in Kansas City, Colombia made a bright start and took the lead in the 14th minute through Jhon Arias, who finished off a well-worked move after Luis Suárez delivered a pinpoint cross. Ghana fought hard to get back into the contest but struggled to break down Colombia’s disciplined defence. Colombia finished top of Group K after wins over Uzbekistan and DR Congo and a draw against Portugal, carrying their impressive form into the knockout rounds. Their reward is a Round of 16 clash against Switzerland in Vancouver as they continue their pursuit of a first-ever World Cup title.
With Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay and Colombia all advancing, South America has reinforced its strong presence in the knockout phase, setting up an exciting battle for a place in the quarterfinals.
