India’s premier backstroke swimmer Srihari Natraj once again underlined his dominance in the pool by producing a record-breaking performance in the men’s 50m backstroke at the 79th Senior National Swimming Championships in Ahmedabad.
The Olympian stormed to the gold medal with a new national record of 25.37 seconds, eclipsing his previous Indian mark of 25.58 seconds, which had stood since 2019. The remarkable swim reaffirmed his status as the country’s fastest-ever swimmer in the event while adding another prestigious national title to his growing collection.
Srihari looked in complete control throughout the race, producing a powerful start and maintaining his speed through the finish to comfortably stay ahead of the competition. His timing also marked one of the standout performances of the championship so far.
