Former Mary Earps is edging closer to a return to the Women’s Super League, with London City Lionesses showing strong interest ahead of the summer transfer window.

The 33-year-old goalkeeper is expected to leave Paris Saint-Germain Féminine when her contract expires in June. Earps was on the bench during PSG’s 1-0 play-off semi-final defeat to Paris FC on Saturday.

Earps joined PSG from Manchester United Women in 2024 and has made 54 appearances for the French side.

Earps enjoyed successful spell in France

During the 2025-26 season, Earps featured 22 times in the Première Ligue and kept 12 clean sheets as PSG finished third in the standings, behind Olympique Lyonnais Féminin.

The goalkeeper previously spent five years at Manchester United, making more than 100 appearances and helping the club win the Women’s FA Cup in 2024.

Earps also played a key role for England women’s national football team during their triumph at UEFA Women’s Euro 2022 and their run to the final of the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

London City planning ambitious summer rebuild

London City Lionesses, owned by Michele Kang, are preparing for an ambitious summer after finishing sixth in their debut WSL campaign.

Although sources indicate no agreement has been finalised with Earps, the club remain optimistic about strengthening their squad significantly before next season.

The club have also been linked with players including Mapi León and Beth Mead, who recently confirmed her departure from Arsenal Women.

Several big names available this summer

Earps is among a number of high-profile women’s football stars who could move clubs this summer. Other notable names include Katie McCabe, Alexia Putellas, Sam Kerr and Khadija Shaw.

During her time in England, Earps became one of the most recognisable figures in women’s football, both for her performances on the pitch and her growing influence off it.
