Manchester City stars Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw and Yui Hasegawa have been shortlisted for the Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) Women’s Player of the Year award following their standout performances during a memorable season.
The duo played key roles as City secured the Women’s Super League title and FA Cup, completing a domestic double.
Shaw’s Goal-Scoring Brilliance Earns Recognition
Shaw enjoyed another prolific campaign in front of goal, finishing as the Women’s Super League’s top scorer with 21 goals in 22 matches.
The Jamaican striker’s impressive form also saw her win the Football Writers’ Association Women’s Footballer of the Year award in May.
Her consistency throughout the season was instrumental in City’s title-winning success.
Hasegawa’s Midfield Influence Recognised
Japan international Hasegawa also earned a place on the shortlist after another outstanding campaign in midfield.
Known for her composure, passing range and defensive work, she was one of City’s most influential performers throughout the season.
Her contributions helped City dominate both domestically and in key matches across the campaign.
England Stars Feature On Six-Player Shortlist
Arsenal forward Alessia Russo has also been nominated after finishing second behind Shaw in the race for the Golden Boot.
The England international is joined by fellow Lionesses Lauren James of Chelsea and Jess Park of Manchester United.
Aston Villa striker Kirsty Hanson completes the six-player shortlist after scoring 12 goals in 22 league appearances for the Midlands club.
Award Winners To Be Revealed In August
The winner of the PFA Women’s Player of the Year award will be announced at the 53rd annual PFA Awards ceremony in Manchester on 25 August.
The award is voted for by fellow players, making it one of the most prestigious individual honours in English football.
