Kolkata Knight Riders produced a strong bowling performance to restrict Sunrisers Hyderabad to 165 in 19 overs in their Indian Premier League 2026 clash on Today.
After winning the toss, SRH skipper Pat Cummins opted to bat first, but his side failed to capitalise despite a promising start.
Head, Kishan provide solid start
Openers Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma added 44 runs quickly, setting the tone early. However, Abhishek departed for 15 off 10 balls, falling to Kartik Tyagi.
Head continued his aggressive approach and brought up a quick half-century off just 22 balls. He eventually top-scored with 61 before being dismissed by Varun Chakravarthy.
Ishan Kishan supported well with 42 runs, but lacked consistent partnerships as wickets kept falling at regular intervals.
Middle-order collapse hurts SRH
SRH lost momentum in the middle overs as Heinrich Klaasen, Smaran Ravichandran and Aniket Verma were dismissed in quick succession. Chakravarthy led the charge with a three-wicket haul, triggering the collapse.
Sunil Narine played a key role as well, picking up two wickets, including his 200th in the tournament. Tyagi also finished with two wickets, while Vaibhav Arora chipped in with one.
Despite a decent platform, SRH were unable to push towards a bigger total and were eventually bowled out with an over to spare.
KKR set for chase
KKR now need 166 runs from 120 balls to secure victory. With momentum on their side after a disciplined bowling display, they will be confident heading into the chase.
SRH, on the other hand, will rely on early breakthroughs to stay in the contest after a below-par total on the board.
