India stars Rishabh Pant and Pratika Rawal will be among the biggest attractions at the Delhi Premier League (DPL) Season 3 auction, scheduled to take place in New Delhi on Wednesday.
A total of 600 players — 400 men and 200 women — have registered for the auction, where eight men’s franchises and four women’s franchises will look to strengthen their squads ahead of the new season.
Franchises enter auction after retentions
The teams have already retained 65 men’s and 28 women’s players before the auction.
Each men’s franchise has been allotted a purse of ₹1.5 crore, with retention costs already deducted. Similarly, each women’s franchise has a budget of ₹75 lakh after adjusting for retained players.
Franchises will also have the option to use one Right to Match (RTM) card during the auction.
Players divided into four categories
The auction pool has been split into four categories based on experience and achievements.
The men’s marquee category features players who have represented India or India A, or have been part of an Indian Premier League (IPL) squad during the last three seasons. Category A includes players who have represented Delhi in the Ranji Trophy, Vijay Hazare Trophy or Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, while Categories B and C consist of Delhi age-group cricketers and league players.
The base prices for the men’s categories are ₹10 lakh (Marquee), ₹5 lakh (Category A), ₹3 lakh (Category B) and ₹1 lakh (Category C).
The women’s marquee category includes India internationals from Delhi and players who have been part of Women’s Premier League (WPL) squads over the past three seasons. Their base prices are ₹5 lakh, ₹3 lakh, ₹1.5 lakh and ₹75,000 respectively.
Star-studded player pool
Pant headlines the men’s marquee list, which also features Ishant Sharma, Kuldeep Yadav, Mayank Yadav, Navdeep Saini, Simarjeet Singh, Anuj Rawat, Digvesh Rathi, Himmat Singh, Suyash Sharma, Vansh Bedi, Sarthak Ranjan and Tejasvi.
The women’s marquee category includes Pratika Rawal, Priya Punia, Priya Mishra, Parunika Sisodia and Simran Dil Bahadur.
With several established internationals and promising domestic talents available, franchises are expected to be busy at the auction as they finalise their squads for the third edition of the Delhi Premier League.
