POKHARA, Nepal — India clinched the SAFF U-19 Women’s Championship 2026 title with a commanding 4–0 victory over Bangladesh in the final at Pokhara Stadium, delivering one of their most emphatic wins at this age-group level.
India took control early, going into halftime with a one-goal lead before unleashing an attacking surge in the second half, scoring three more goals to seal the championship in style. The triumph marks India’s third SAFF U-19 women’s title, reinforcing their growing strength in youth football.
Bangladesh, the defending champions, had entered the final in red-hot form, topping the league stage with nine points after big wins over Bhutan (12–0), India (2–0), and Nepal (4–0). However, in the final, India flipped the script with a clinical and composed performance.
India reached the title clash after finishing second in the standings with six points, following victories over Nepal and Bhutan, and made their chance count when it mattered most.
“This result shows the character and growth of our young players,” a team source said, praising the squad’s tactical discipline and attacking sharpness.
The comprehensive win not only avenged India’s earlier loss to Bangladesh in the tournament but also underlined the team’s depth, resilience, and future promise on the regional stage.
