Bihar- The Indian men’s hockey team showcased a tremendous effort yesterday with a 15-0 victory over Kazakhstan to top Pool A at the Rajgir Sports Complex in the Men’s Asia Cup Hockey 2025.  It was an impressive display of dominance, it’s a testament to the team’s rich history that this score doesn’t even make the record books. India’s legacy is built on monumental victories that set new benchmarks in the sport.

Here are a few of the most significant wins by the Indian men’s hockey team, showcasing their incredible goal-scoring prowess over the decades.

The All-Time Record: 26-0 vs. Hong Kong (2018 Asian Games)

The highest-ever winning margin for the Indian men’s hockey team came at the 2018 Asian Games. In a stunning display of offensive power, India annihilated Hong Kong with a final score of 26-0. This historic victory shattered an 86-year-old record and cemented the team’s place in modern hockey history. The match was a masterclass in relentless attack, with India scoring a goal roughly every two minutes.

An Olympic Milestone: 24-1 vs. USA (1932 Summer Olympics)

Before the 26-0 win, the record for India’s largest victory was a historic 24-1 triumph over the United States in the 1932 Los Angeles Olympics. This win holds a special place in the annals of sports as it remains the largest winning margin in any Olympic hockey match. Led by the legendary Dhyan Chand, the team’s dominance in this game was a key part of their successful campaign to secure a second consecutive Olympic gold medal.

A Goal Fest in Jakarta: 20-0 vs. Sri Lanka (2018 Asian Games)

The 2018 Asian Games proved to be a scoring spree for India. Just a few days after their record-breaking 26-0 win, the Indian team delivered another stunning performance, defeating Sri Lanka with a score of 20-0. This victory showcased India’s consistent offensive pressure and served as a strong warm-up for the semi-finals, where they continued to score goals at will.

An Olympic Opener: 18-0 vs. Tanzania (1980 Moscow Olympics)

At the 1980 Moscow Olympics, India began their campaign with a decisive 18-0 win against Tanzania. This resounding victory set a strong tone for the tournament and was a sign of things to come, as the team went on to win the gold medal, ending a long wait for an Olympic title. The win over Tanzania was a testament to India’s clinical finishing and attacking mindset.
