Real Madrid CF have officially confirmed the departure of club captain Dani Carvajal at the end of the current season, bringing the curtain down on one of the most successful careers in the club’s modern history.
The Spanish right-back, who joined Madrid’s academy in 2002 as a youngster, spent over two decades associated with the club and became a key figure during one of the most dominant eras in European football. After a brief spell with Bayer 04 Leverkusen, Carvajal returned to Madrid in 2013 and went on to establish himself as one of the finest defenders of his generation.
Real Madrid, in an official statement, described the decision as the end of a “wonderful chapter” and thanked their captain for his commitment, leadership and contribution to the club’s success over the years.
During his remarkable tenure, Carvajal won multiple major honours, including six UEFA Champions League titles and several domestic trophies, making him one of the most decorated players in Real Madrid history. He also captained the side following the departure of Luka Modrić from the leadership role.
Reports suggest recurring injury concerns and Madrid’s long-term transition plans influenced the decision, with the club reportedly preparing for a new-look defence in the coming seasons.
Carvajal is expected to receive a special farewell tribute at the Santiago Bernabéu before officially departing the Spanish giants.
