Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi’s participation in the upcoming ICC Board meeting in Ahmedabad remains uncertain, according to recent reports.
The ICC Board meeting is scheduled to take place in Ahmedabad later this month and is expected to feature discussions on major global cricketing matters, including tournament schedules, governance issues and commercial rights.
Reports suggest Naqvi’s absence could be linked to the current diplomatic and political tensions between India and Pakistan, which continue to impact bilateral cricket relations.
Mohsin Naqvi currently serves as both PCB chairman and Pakistan’s Interior Minister, making his travel arrangements subject to additional political and security considerations.
The uncertainty surrounding his visit comes at a sensitive time for cricket administration in the region, especially after recent disagreements involving ICC tournament scheduling and hosting arrangements.
India and Pakistan have not played a bilateral cricket series in over a decade, with encounters currently limited to ICC and Asian Cricket Council tournaments.
Despite the uncertainty, PCB officials are expected to remain engaged with ICC matters through alternative representation if Naqvi is unable to attend the meeting in person.
The Ahmedabad meeting is likely to attract major global attention because it will involve several influential cricket boards discussing the future structure of international cricket calendars and ICC event hosting.
Neither the PCB nor the ICC has officially confirmed Naqvi’s final decision regarding attendance at the time of reporting.
The development has once again highlighted how political relations between India and Pakistan continue to influence cricket administration and high-level sporting engagements between the two nations.
