Indian cricket legend Jhulan Goswami believes the Bengal T20 League is playing a major role in reshaping the women’s cricket landscape by giving young players valuable exposure to professional-level competition.
The former India pacer, who currently serves as mentor for women’s cricket at the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB), described the tournament as a “huge platform” for aspiring cricketers looking to adapt to the pressures of elite sport.
Providing Young Cricketers a Professional Environment
According to Goswami, the league offers players a rare opportunity to experience high-pressure situations, media attention, social media scrutiny, and competitive intensity — all crucial aspects of modern professional cricket.
She stressed that exposure to cameras, crowds, and expectations at an early stage helps players mentally prepare for higher levels of the game.
Bengal Emerging as Strong Women’s Cricket Hub
The Bengal Pro T20 League has rapidly grown into one of India’s prominent domestic franchise competitions for women’s cricket, featuring several national and emerging stars.
Goswami also highlighted the importance of mindset, adaptability, and game awareness in today’s fast-evolving T20 format, saying young cricketers need more than technical skill to succeed consistently.
Women’s Cricket Continues Rapid Growth in India
The rise of tournaments such as the Women’s Premier League (WPL) and state-based franchise leagues has significantly expanded opportunities for female cricketers across India.
With increasing investment, visibility, and competitive platforms, women’s cricket in India continues to witness rapid growth both at grassroots and professional levels.
