Gill and Buttler power GT’s chase
Gujarat Titans registered a convincing seven-wicket victory over Lucknow Super Giants in their IPL 2026 clash at Lucknow on April 12. Chasing a target of 165, GT reached 165/3 in just 18.4 overs, thanks to a dominant batting display.
The standout performers were captain Shubman Gill and Jos Buttler, who stitched together a match-winning partnership. Buttler scored 60, while Gill contributed a fluent 56, ensuring a smooth chase for their side.
LSG post modest total despite early intent
Batting first, Lucknow Super Giants managed 164/8 in their allotted 20 overs. Aiden Markram top-scored with 30 runs, while contributions from middle-order batters failed to push the total beyond a competitive mark.
Rishabh Pant showed brief aggression early in the innings, but wickets at regular intervals prevented LSG from building momentum.
Prasidh Krishna shines with the ball
GT’s bowling unit played a crucial role in restricting LSG. Prasidh Krishna delivered a standout performance, picking up four wickets to dismantle the opposition’s batting lineup.
Support from the rest of the bowling attack ensured that LSG never gained full control during their innings.
Clinical finish seals dominant win
In reply, GT lost an early wicket but quickly recovered through the Gill–Buttler partnership, which took the game away from LSG. Even after a couple of late wickets, the target proved too small to defend as GT comfortably crossed the finish line.
The victory strengthens Gujarat Titans’ position in the tournament, while Lucknow Super Giants will need to regroup after a below-par performance with both bat and ball.
