Sebastian Fundora Set to Defend WBC Title Against Keith Thurman in Las Vegas Showdown

LAS VEGAS: Sebastian Fundora will put his WBC super welterweight world title on the line against Keith Thurman in a high-profile pay-per-view main event in Las Vegas, as both fighters prepare for a defining night in their careers.

The bout, scheduled at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, headlines a Premier Boxing Champions card and marks a crucial test for Fundora, who enters as the reigning champion and one of the most active fighters in the division. The 28-year-old has built strong momentum in recent years and will be looking to extend his winning run while defending his 154-pound crown.

For Thurman, a former unified world champion, the fight represents a major opportunity to re-establish himself at the top level. Despite limited activity in recent years, the 37-year-old remains a dangerous contender, bringing experience and knockout power into a contest that could reshape the division’s hierarchy.

The matchup has generated significant attention not only because of the title at stake but also due to the contrasting styles and physical attributes of the two fighters. Fundora, known for his towering height and reach advantage, presents a unique challenge, while Thurman’s movement and ring IQ offer a different tactical threat.

Originally scheduled for 2025, the fight was postponed after Fundora suffered a hand injury during training, adding further anticipation to a clash that has been months in the making.

The event, available via pay-per-view streaming, also features a strong undercard, but the spotlight remains firmly on the main event as Fundora aims to cement his status as the division’s leading figure. Thurman, meanwhile, is chasing a statement comeback that could propel him back into championship contention.

With both fighters carrying high stakes into the ring, the Las Vegas showdown is expected to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the super welterweight division.
