LONDON: Castleford Tigers mauled Bradford Bulls 40-28 in a pulsating Betfred Super League Round 8 clash at The Jungle, powered by Jason Qareqare’s stunning hat-trick. The Papua New Guinea winger, 23, torched defenses with three tries in 22 first-half minutes, sprinting 80 meters for his third off a Jake Trueman grubber.
Tigers led 24-6 at halftime after Innes Senior and Muizz Mustapha crossed. Bradford rallied post-interval, George Flanagan and Lewis Hall sniping tries to narrow to 30-22. But Castleford’s bench depth shone: Jason Engall barged over, then Qareqare’s teammates sealed it with late scores from Corey Hall and Trueman.
Coach Danny McIntyre hailed Qareqare: “He’s electric—three tries from nowhere.” Bradford’s Brian McDermott rued errors: “Soft concessions killed us.” Attendance: 9,200, electrified by the comeback tease.
Tigers climb to sixth, eyeing playoffs; Bulls slip to 10th. Next: Castleford at Salford. Qareqare: “Team effort; we clicked.”
