Mayank Yadav Named In India A Squad For T20 World Cup 2026 Warm-Up Games

Pace Sensation Returns After Injury Layoff
Fast bowler Mayank Yadav has been named in the India A squad for the warm-up matches ahead of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. The selection marks an important step in Yadav’s return to competitive cricket after spending over a year on the sidelines due to injury. Known for his raw pace and impact performances in the IPL, the 22-year-old will look to regain match fitness and rhythm through these preparatory fixtures.
Tilak Varma Also Included After Medical Clearance
Middle-order batter Tilak Varma has also been included in the India A squad after receiving clearance from the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence. Varma, who was recovering from a groin injury, is expected to feature in at least one warm-up game before joining the senior India squad for the World Cup.
Warm-Up Matches Scheduled Against USA And Namibia
India A will play two warm-up matches as part of the World Cup preparations. The first match will be against the United States at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai, followed by a second game against Namibia at the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru. These matches are aimed at providing players valuable game time ahead of the global tournament.
Balanced Squad With Youth And Experience
The 15-member India A squad is captained by Ayush Badoni and features a mix of promising young players and established domestic performers. Along with Mayank Yadav and Tilak Varma, the squad includes Riyan Parag, Naman Dhir, Ravi Bishnoi, and other players who are part of India’s wider T20 plans.
Focus On Final Preparations Before World Cup Campaign
The warm-up fixtures will serve as the final preparation phase before India begin their T20 World Cup 2026 campaign. With an emphasis on fitness, form, and team combinations, the inclusion of players returning from injury highlights India’s intent to enter the tournament with a fully prepared and competitive squad.
