London : Former world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury has confirmed his return to professional boxing, announcing a comeback fight against Arslanbek Makhmudov scheduled for April, according to a report by Sportstar.
Fury, who announced his retirement earlier this year following consecutive defeats to Oleksandr Usyk in 2024, said the decision to return was driven by his enduring passion for the sport. “I’m excited to be back,” Fury was quoted as saying, adding that boxing has always remained close to his heart, as reported by Sportstar.
The 37-year-old Briton will face the powerful Makhmudov, a Canada-based heavyweight known for his knockout ability. The April bout is expected to take place in the United Kingdom, though the exact venue is yet to be confirmed.
Makhmudov, who has built a reputation as a dangerous puncher, said he is ready for the biggest challenge of his career. “This is a huge opportunity for me,” he said, as quoted by Sportstar. “I respect Tyson Fury, but I’m coming to win.”
The fight marks Fury’s first appearance in the ring since his losses to Usyk and could be a crucial step in determining whether the former champion can re-establish himself among boxing’s elite heavyweights.
