The Seattle Seahawks booked their place in Super Bowl 60 after edging past the Los Angeles Rams in a dramatic NFC Championship clash on Sunday night.
High-scoring thriller in Seattle
The contest turned into a shootout, with Sam Darnold and Matt Stafford each throwing three touchdown passes. Seattle eventually held firm to claim a 31-27 victory in front of their home crowd.
After the game, Darnold said:
“These are the moments you dream of. Everyone stepped up when it mattered.”
The win marks Seattle’s fourth Super Bowl appearance, with their only previous title coming in 2014.
Patriots battle through blizzard conditions
While fireworks lit up the NFC final, defence dominated the AFC Championship. New England defeated the Denver Broncos 10-7 in freezing, snow-filled conditions.
Quarterback Drake Maye scored the Patriots’ only touchdown with a crucial run, helping his team secure a record 12th Super Bowl appearance.
“We showed real toughness out there,” Maye said.
“Nobody was worried about the conditions.”
Historic rivalry set to resume
Super Bowl 60 will see a repeat of the 2015 final, when the Patriots defeated Seattle 28-24. New England are chasing their seventh title, having already won six championships, most recently in 2019 under Tom Brady.
Seattle, meanwhile, will hope to claim their second Lombardi Trophy.
Date and venue confirmed
The NFL showpiece will be played on 8 February 2026 at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, home of the San Francisco 49ers.
With two heavyweights set to clash, Super Bowl 60 promises to be another unforgettable chapter in NFL history.
