Paris — A Ferrari Formula 1 car once driven by seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher is set to go under the hammer later this month, with expectations of a multi-million-euro sale, according to RacingNews365.
The car in question is the Ferrari F310 B from the 1997 Formula 1 season, a machine briefly used by Schumacher during qualifying for the Belgian Grand Prix at Spa-Francorchamps. As reported by RacingNews365, Schumacher opted to switch back to another chassis for the race weekend, making this Ferrari a rare but significant part of his storied career.
Following Schumacher’s outing, the car was raced by teammate Eddie Irvine at the Austrian and Italian Grands Prix, before later serving as a spare chassis during the German and Japanese rounds of the 1997 season (RacingNews365).
The Ferrari will be auctioned by RM Sotheby’s in Paris on January 28, with an estimated price range of €5.5 million to €7.5 million, reflecting the continued surge in value of Schumacher-era Ferraris (RacingNews365).
The car was later sold by Ferrari in 1999 and has since appeared at high-profile historic events, including the 2019 Goodwood Festival of Speed, held to mark Schumacher’s 50th birthday, further enhancing its provenance (RacingNews365).
Although the F310 B was not a race winner, its association with Schumacher during Ferrari’s rebuilding phase in the late 1990s adds to its collector appeal. As previous Schumacher-driven Ferraris have shattered auction records, anticipation is high that this iconic red machine could once again ignite bidding battles among motorsport collectors.
