Dominant Display From Indian Ace
India’s ace shuttler P V Sindhu delivered a commanding performance at the Malaysia Open Super 1000 tournament, defeating Japan’s Tomoka Miyazaki in straight games to book her place in the women’s singles quarterfinals in Kuala Lumpur on Thursday.
Sindhu, a two-time Olympic medallist, was in complete control throughout the match as she outplayed the eighth-seeded Japanese 21-8, 21-13 in a contest that lasted just over half an hour. The Indian shuttler showed sharp movement, precise shot placement and aggressive attacking play to dominate her younger opponent.
Strong Start And Clinical Finish
Sindhu started the match on an aggressive note, racing to an early lead in the opening game and never allowing Miyazaki to settle into a rhythm. She continued the momentum in the second game, maintaining pressure with powerful smashes and tight net play to seal the match comfortably.
The win marked Sindhu’s second victory over Miyazaki on the international circuit and underlined her growing confidence as she continues her return to top-level competition after an injury lay-off.
Tough Challenge Ahead
Sindhu will now face a stern test in the quarterfinals, where she is expected to meet the winner of the match between China’s Gao Fang Jie and third seed Akane Yamaguchi of Japan.
The Malaysia Open is one of the most prestigious events on the Badminton World Federation calendar, and Sindhu’s emphatic performance has strengthened India’s hopes of a deep run in the tournament.
