Maxime Vachier-Lagrave led the charge for the Masters, defeating chess legend Viswanathan Anand on the top board, while teammates Shakhriyar Mamedyarov, Harika Dronavalli and Bardiya Daneshvar also notched crucial victories. Wesley So was named Man of the Match on his GCL debut.

In another highlight of the day, Fyers American Gambits, captained by Hikaru Nakamura, secured a narrow 8-5 victory over the PBG Alaskan Knights. The tie featured tightly contested games throughout, including a draw between Nakamura and Gukesh D, while Teodora Injac delivered the decisive win that swung the match in favour of the Gambits.

Defending champions Triveni Continental Kings also began their title defence with a win, edging out Alpine SG Pipers 9-7 in a closely fought encounter that featured several draws and tactical skirmishes.
