Madrid Starlet Hails Yamal’s Exceptional Form
Real Madrid’s promising winger Franco Mastantuono recently made a candid admission: he believes Lamine Yamal of Barcelona is performing at a higher level than him right now. Speaking to Cadena SER, Mastantuono acknowledged, “Today, Lamine is better. He is showing an incredible level, he is in an incredible moment.”
Respect, Not Rivalry
Despite the frequent comparisons between the two young talents, Mastantuono said he doesn’t dwell on such comparisons. “I don’t like comparisons. It’s always nice to have rivals with the level of Lamine Yamal … It motivates you to be even better.” The Argentine emphasized that Yamal’s rise serves as a source of inspiration rather than resentment.
Adapting to Life in Madrid
Since his high-profile move from River Plate to Real Madrid, Mastantuono admits he is still adapting to European football. “I just arrived in Madrid. I’m in a process of adaptation that I hope will be quick … I hope I can pick up the rhythm of Europe soon and that it will be a long story to tell … with many games,” he said.
Injury Struggles but Optimistic About the Future
Mastantuono revealed that he has been managing pubalgia, a persistent groin injury. Despite this, he remains optimistic about his growth: “My best version hasn’t arrived yet … I’m going to keep working and improving … It is my goal, to stay at the top for a long time … I want this to last a long time.”
A Long-Term Vision for Madrid
Rather than seeking immediate glory, the young winger is focused on building a sustained career at Real Madrid. He made it clear that while comparisons with Yamal may linger, his priority is to mature, contribute, and remain at the club for years to come.
