Los Angeles Dodgers megastar Shohei Ohtani has added another milestone to his extraordinary career, winning Major League Baseball’s Most Valuable Player award for the third consecutive year and the fourth time overall.
The 31-year-old was once again central to the Dodgers’ success, helping power the team to its second straight World Series title after defeating the Toronto Blue Jays earlier this month.
A Two-Way Phenomenon Making History
Ohtani, celebrated for his unprecedented dominance as both an elite hitter and top-tier pitcher, earned the National League MVP unanimously — receiving all 30 first-place votes. He now trails only Barry Bonds on the all-time MVP list; Bonds won seven between 1990 and 2004.
“If I’m playing well as an individual that means I’m helping the team win… hopefully I can end up with a couple more MVPs,” Ohtani said through an interpreter. “But it’s all about winning games.”
This latest win makes Ohtani the first player in MLB history to claim MVP honours in both leagues, having previously secured American League MVP titles with the Los Angeles Angels in 2021 and 2023.
Aaron Judge Earns Third AL MVP
In the American League, Aaron Judge captured his third MVP, making him only the fourth New York Yankee to achieve the feat. Judge — who previously won the award in 2022 and 2024 — now joins franchise legends Joe DiMaggio, Yogi Berra and Mickey Mantle as a three-time MVP.
“It’s mind blowing… I play this game to win, for my team-mates, my family and the fans in New York,” Judge said. “You’ve got to pinch yourself every single day.”
