Lionel Messi has once again proven why he remains football’s gold standard. The Argentine maestro captured the 2025 MLS Golden Boot, finishing the season with 29 goals and 19 assists in just his second full campaign for Inter Miami CF.
In doing so, Messi not only outscored rivals Denis Bouanga and Sam Surridge, but also became Inter Miami’s first-ever Golden Boot winner — and the first Argentine since Taty Castellanos (2021) to achieve the honor.
His 48 goal contributions place him just one shy of Carlos Vela’s 2019 record (49), underscoring his unmatched influence on the pitch. With Miami’s resurgence under his leadership, Messi is also strongly tipped to become MLS’s first back-to-back MVP, following his pivotal role in the club’s 2024 Supporters’ Shield triumph.
Adding to his stellar year, Messi recently became the all-time assist leader in men’s international football (60 assists) after inspiring Argentina’s 6-0 victory over Puerto Rico.
At 38, Messi continues to redefine longevity, artistry, and leadership — turning every match into another chapter of footballing excellence.
