New Delhi: Top junior tennis talents continued their impressive runs at the Fenesta Open National Tennis Championship at the DLTA Complex in New Delhi. In the Girls’ U-16 Singles category, top seed Parthsarthi Arun Mundhe, Akansha Ghosh, and Riddhi Shinde advanced to the pre-quarterfinals with commanding performances.
Parthsarthi Overcomes Early Challenge
Parthsarthi faced a stiff start against Swanika Roy, with the score tied at 2-2. The top seed then unleashed a dominant streak, winning the next seven games with powerful baseline play to seal a 9-2 victory, booking her spot in the next round.
Akansha Cruises to Victory
Third seed Akansha Ghosh also notched up a 9-2 win over Keertama Rangineni. Akansha won six consecutive games mid-match, establishing a clear lead and securing a comfortable win to reach the round of 16.
Riddhi Stuns Sixth Seed
Riddhi Shinde caused a notable upset by defeating sixth seed Aashi Kashyap 9-4. With four crucial breaks of serve, Riddhi gained a commanding lead and finished the match convincingly.
Highlights from Other Junior Categories
Girls U-14: Aniha Gavinolla upset seventh seed Eshitha Sriyala 9-5, while top seed Padma Rameshkumar defeated Shubhi Sharma 9-3 in the round-of-32.
Boys U-16: Top seed Prakaash Sarran edged past Saksham Bhansal 9-8 (7-1), while eighth seed Tavish Pahwa defeated Puneeth M 9-5 to move into the pre-quarterfinals.
Prizes and Recognition
Winners in the junior categories not only compete for prestigious titles but also receive kit allowances. Additionally, champions and runners-up in the U-16 and U-14 singles events will each be awarded a ₹25,000 tennis scholarship, encouraging the next generation of Indian tennis stars.
