The Indian women’s cricket team posted a competitive total of 251 runs in their 2025 ICC Women’s World Cup match against South Africa, thanks to an outstanding innings from Richa Ghosh. The wicketkeeper-batter scored an outstanding 94 off just 77 balls, hitting 11 fours and four sixes. Interestingly, the 22-year-old shared an impressive eighth-wicket partnership of 88 runs with spinner Sneh Rana, who contributed with a valuable knock of her own.
A knock of substance and highest score batting at No. 8
Ghosh’s sensational knock came at a time when India were struggling at 102 for six. She shared a fifty-plus stand alongside Amanjot Kaur for the 7th wicket, taking India past 150. And then, she added another 88 runs with Rana, getting India to 251.
As per ESPNcricinfo, Ghosh became the highest individual run-scorer batting at No. 8 in Women’s ODIs. She surpassed the previous record of 92 runs set by Australian ace Ellyse Perry against New Zealand in 2017.
Richa surpasses 1000 runs in Women’s ODIs
Richa got to 1000 WODI runs with her 53rd run during the contest, making her the 12th Indian to achieve the milestone. With this knock of 94, Richa now owns 1041 WODI runs from 46 matches at an average of 29.74. She took 46 matches and 44 innings to reach the landmark of 1000 runs.
3rd-fastest to 1000 WODI runs (by balls)
As per Cricbuzz, Richa is the 3rd-fastest to 1000 WODI runs in terms of balls taken. She took 1010 balls to get to the landmark. Australia’s Ashleigh Gardner holds the record as the fastest to 1000 WODI runs (by balls). She too 917 balls. England’s Nat Sciver-Brunt is next. She took 943 balls for the landmark.
Meanwhile, Richa bettered the tally of Australian duo Meg Lanning (1011 balls) and Alyssa Healy (1022 balls).
