Bhubaneswar: In a thrilling ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 encounter at Visakhapatnam, South Africa stunned India by 3 wickets. Chasing 252, South Africa reached 252/7 in 48.5 overs, thanks to an unbeaten 84 off 54 balls from Nadine de Klerk.
India had looked in trouble at 102/6, but Richa Ghosh’s fiery 94 off 77 balls, supported by Amanjot Kaur (50) and Sneh Rana (88), rescued the innings and lifted India to a competitive 251 all out. Despite the late surge, the total proved just short against South Africa’s steady chase.
Laura Wolvaardt anchored the chase with a composed 70, while Chloe Tryon added 49, setting the stage for de Klerk’s finishing brilliance. India’s fielding saw highlights as well, notably Kranti Gaud’s stunning one-handed catch, but consistency remains a concern for the team moving forward.
India Women: 251 all out in 49.5 overs
South Africa Women: 252/7 in 48.5 overs
The match highlighted resilience from both sides, with de Klerk’s heroics turning the game in South Africa’s favor.
