CHICAGO — The Chicago Bulls have made their latest move of a busy offseason, bringing in forward Mouhamadou Gueye on an Exhibit 10 training camp deal. The signing, first reported by Keith Smith of Spotrac, comes as the team prepares for training camp and looks to solidify its roster ahead of the new season. The following details were compiled from various sources, including a report by SportingNews.com.
A Look at the Offseason Moves
The addition of Gueye is the latest in a series of significant roster changes for the Bulls this summer. The team re-signed guard Tre Jones to a three-year, $24 million contract and traded away Lonzo Ball to the Cleveland Cavaliers for forward Isaac Okoro.
The biggest headline of the offseason, however, was the signing of point guard Josh Giddey to a four-year, $100 million deal. According to a report by Jake Fischer of The Stein Line, this contract sits between Giddey’s desired salary and what the Bulls initially hoped to pay. Per ESPN’s Bobby Marks, the deal represents a manageable portion of the team’s salary cap.
The Bulls also used their draft picks to add forward Noah Essengue at No. 12 and center Lachlan Olbrich at No. 55.
What Mouhamadou Gueye Brings to Chicago
Mouhamadou Gueye, a versatile combo forward, spent last season toggling between the Toronto Raptors and their G League affiliate, Raptors 905. In his 11 games with the Raptors during the 2023-24 season, he averaged 2.4 points, 2.1 rebounds, and 1.6 blocks. Gueye also has experience playing for the Capital City Go-Go, the Washington Wizards’ G League club.
Understanding an Exhibit 10 Deal
Gueye’s Exhibit 10 contract offers him a chance to earn a permanent spot on the roster. It is a training camp deal that could potentially be converted into a two-way contract, although the Bulls would need to make a roster cut to do so. If he is released before the start of the season and spends at least 60 days with the Bulls’ G League affiliate, the Windy City Bulls, he could earn a bonus of up to $85,300.
