Michigan, USA – The LIV Golf League team final delivered high drama on Sunday, culminating in a sudden-death playoff where Jon Rahm’s Legion XIII defeated Bryson DeChambeau’s Crushers GC to claim the team championship in Michigan.
The victory capped a stellar week for Rahm, who secured the team title just a week after clinching his second consecutive individual season crown.
The Final Hole Thrill
The playoff was set up by a dramatic finish in regulation. Both teams finished the round tied at 20-under, with Stinger GC (captained by Louis Oostuizen) far behind at 12-under.
- Clutch Regulation Finish: Both Tyrrell Hatton (Legion XIII) and Captain Rahm birdied the final two holes (17 and 18) to match the late surge from the Crushers. DeChambeau, a two-time major champion, had produced the best round of the day, an eight-under 62, including three straight late birdies, alongside Paul Casey.
Playoff Decider
In the playoff, which featured a two-man total score format chosen by the captains, the match was decided on the second extra hole.
- Hole 1: DeChambeau and Hatton both birdied, while Rahm and Casey parred, keeping the scores even.
- Hole 2: After all four players found the fairway, the Legion XIII pair struck the decisive blows. Hatton and Rahm stuck their second shots close to the pin, while Casey was left 20 feet away and DeChambeau found the rough. When the Legion players converted their birdie attempts, the title was theirs.
