Burnley, UK – Striker Armando Broja has completed a permanent move from his boyhood club Chelsea to newly promoted Burnley, signing a five-year contract, the clubs announced on Friday. While the official transfer fee was not disclosed, British media reports indicate Burnley will pay an initial £10 million ($13.4 million), with potential add-ons reaching a further £5 million ($6.7 million), making the deal reportedly worth up to £20 million in total.
End of a Long Chelsea Journey
Broja, an English-born Albanian international, joined Chelsea’s academy from Tottenham at the age of eight in 2009. He progressed through the youth ranks to make 38 senior appearances for the Blues, scoring nine goals.
Despite his long association with Chelsea, the 23-year-old has had several loan spells, including stints at Vitesse Arnhem, Southampton, and Fulham in the Premier League. Most recently, he spent last season on loan at Everton, but the Toffees opted against a permanent transfer. With Chelsea making significant investments in new forwards such as Liam Delap and Joao Pedro, Broja’s departure from Stamford Bridge became inevitable.
Broja Eager for New Chapter at Turf Moor
Expressing his excitement about the move, Broja stated: “I am really excited to be here as a Burnley player. It’s a really positive time to be joining this club ahead of the start of the new Premier League season. I can’t wait to get going.”
Burnley’s manager Scott Parker has been actively bolstering his squad for their return to the English top-flight. Broja’s arrival follows the recent signings of Bashir Humphreys and Lesley Ugochukwu from Chelsea, among others, as the Clarets prepare for the demands of the Premier League.
