Bhubaneswar : Indian 100m hurdles star and Asian champion Jyothi Yarraji has been sidelined for the rest of the season after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tear in her right knee during training in early July. She underwent surgery at Mumbai’s Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital under Dr. Dinshaw Pardiwala and faces a lengthy rehabilitation.
Yarraji, who recently defended her Asian title with a national record 12.96s in Gumi, South Korea, will miss the upcoming World Athletics Championships in Tokyo. Sharing her feelings on social media, she wrote:
“The past few weeks have been tough for me, as this injury has stopped me from doing what I love the most. However, with the support of my family, friends and my entire team, I am taking this in my stride and hoping to be back very soon. The journey to a stronger version of me starts now and I’m going to put in my 100 percent and more to be back on track soon.”

Yarraji thanked her supporters and promised to return stronger, focusing on her recovery and comeback.
