London : In the first innings of the 3rd Test at Lord’s, both India and England scored exactly 387 runs, setting up a thrilling contest. England batted first and were led by Joe Root, who scored a brilliant 104. Despite Root’s effort, Jasprit Bumrah’s exceptional fast bowling, including a five-wicket haul, helped India bowl England out. Bumrah’s performance was historic, as he surpassed Kapil Dev’s record for most five-wicket hauls outside India by an Indian bowler and earned a place on the Lord’s Honours Board.
India’s innings began nervously with early wickets, including the dismissal of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill. However, KL Rahul anchored the innings with a patient and well-crafted century, scoring 100 runs. Rishabh Pant contributed a valuable 74 despite a bruised finger, and Ravindra Jadeja added 72 runs to keep India in the game. England’s Chris Woakes took three wickets, while Jofra Archer also bowled well.
The match has reached a rare and exciting stage with the first innings scores level, making the contest evenly poised as England started their second innings with 2 runs without loss. The battle between bat and ball continues to promise an intense finish in this Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy Test.
