Indian boxer Nishant Dev recently secured his second professional victory, dominating Josue Silva with a unanimous decision (60-54) in their Super Welterweight bout at Madison Square Garden Theatre in New York.
Fighting on the undercard of the Richardson Hitchins versus George Kambosos event, the 24-year-old was a force to be reckoned with, adding another win to his professional record. Dev, who only turned pro this past January, had a stellar debut, defeating Alton Wiggins with a first-round stoppage at The Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas on January 25, as part of the Diego Pacheco vs. Steve Nelson undercard.
Nishant first rose to prominence during the 2024 Paris Olympics, where he impressively reached the quarterfinals before a close loss to Mexico’s Marco Verde. This follows his bronze medal win at the 2023 World Championship in the light middle-weight (71kg) category, cementing his reputation as one of India’s most consistent boxers in recent years.
Looking ahead, Dev has inked a three-year contract with Matchroom Boxing, a deal set to conclude a year before the LA Olympics, where he’s aiming for a podium finish. Fans can catch Nishant in action again this July in an undercard fight in Dallas.
