Summer McIntosh shattered her own world record yet again on Wednesday, delivering a stunning performance at the Canadian Swimming Trials in Victoria. The 18-year-old swimming sensation clocked 4 minutes 23.65 seconds in the 400m individual medley — breaking the record she previously set in Toronto last May (4:24.38).
Already a three-time Olympic gold medallist, McIntosh showed she’s in peak form ahead of next month’s World Championships in Singapore. From the opening butterfly leg, she was right on world record pace. At the halfway mark, she was more than a second ahead of her own best. Though the lead narrowed slightly after the breaststroke leg, she surged again in the freestyle, finishing strong and leaving no doubt about her dominance.
It was yet another reminder of McIntosh’s growing legacy — and she’s just getting started.
