Prime Minister Narendra Modi will interact with young people at the ‘Khelo India Dialogue’ on Thursday, seeking their ideas and aspirations for India’s sporting journey and a stronger youth-led ‘Viksit Bharat’.
The virtual interaction will focus on five broad themes — sports, Olympic aspirations, youth leadership, Viksit Bharat and a ‘Nasha Mukt Yuva’ movement.
Sports And 2036 Olympics In Focus
The dialogue will discuss ways to strengthen India’s sports ecosystem through better facilities, coaching, sports science and wider participation.
Another key focus will be preparing athletes for the 2036 Olympics through scientific talent identification, transparent selection processes and long-term athlete development.
The programme is aimed at creating a direct platform for young people to engage with India’s sporting ambitions and ensure their views become part of the country’s evolving youth and sports ecosystem.
Youth To Shape Sporting Vision
Organised by Mera Yuva Bharat (MY Bharat) as part of the National Sports Day 2026 celebrations, the programme will be conducted nationwide, with young participants joining from two colleges in every district across States and Union Territories.
The initiative seeks to bring sports, fitness, youth leadership, civic responsibility, volunteering and nation-building together on a common platform.
Following the national programme, local interactions will involve youth participants, MY Bharat volunteers, sportspersons and public representatives.
Athletes To Connect With Young Fans
A major feature of the initiative will be direct interaction between youngsters interested in sports and leading Indian athletes and medal winners.
The programme will also include ‘Yuva Samvaad’, giving participants an opportunity to share their own ideas, perspectives and aspirations.
The initiative is in line with the government’s broader vision of building a fit, disciplined and sporting nation while placing young people at the centre of national development.
Five Themes Drive Dialogue
The first theme will focus on improving India’s sports ecosystem through better infrastructure, coaching, sports science and inclusive participation.
The second will centre on nurturing sporting talent for the 2036 Olympics through scientific identification, transparent selection and sustained athlete development.
The third theme will focus on creating youth leaders through governance platforms and MY Bharat-led volunteering.
The fourth will seek to empower young people for ‘Viksit Bharat’ by encouraging civic-mindedness, future-ready skills and structured volunteering.
The fifth theme will promote a ‘Nasha Mukt’ Yuva movement, using sport and peer networks to combat substance abuse.
The campaign will also be reinforced through weekly Jan Bhagidari activities under the Prime Minister’s 100-week nationwide campaign launched on August 2.
Through the dialogue, the government aims to give young Indians a greater role in shaping the country’s sporting ambitions while linking fitness, leadership and youth participation with the larger vision of national development.
