India’s Pranavi Urs and Diksha Dagar made steady starts to the Swiss Ladies Open, carding one-under 70 and even-par 71 respectively in the opening round here on Thursday.
Pranavi was tied 16th, while Diksha occupied tied 32nd, although more than half the field was still to complete their opening rounds.
Spaniards Share Early Lead
Spain’s Luna Sobron Galmes and Amaia Latorre set the early pace with matching six-under 65s to share the lead.
Their compatriot Blanca Fernandez was third after carding a five-under 66.
Pranavi recovered from a bogey with three birdies to finish one-under, while Diksha completed her round at even par.
Tvesa Makes LET Return
Tvesa Malik, also backed by Hero, returned to Ladies European Tour action for the first time since May in Mauritius.
The Indian finished one-over 72 after making two birdies, a bogey and a double bogey, leaving her tied 65th.
Tvesa was runner-up at the Swiss Ladies Open in 2024, when she lost to England’s Alice Hewson in a playoff.
Hewson Chases Hat-trick
Hewson is attempting to become the first player to win the Swiss Ladies Open three times.
The Englishwoman claimed her second LET title at the event in 2024 after defeating Tvesa in a playoff before successfully defending her crown with a five-shot victory last year.
She had only just begun her opening round on Thursday and was one-over after two holes.
Hewson has been in strong form recently, making the cut at both the ISPS HANDA Women’s Scottish Open and AIG Women’s Open before finishing tied sixth at last week’s PIF London Championship.
Swedish great Annika Sorenstam was the last player to complete a three-peat on the LET, winning the HP Open in 2004, 2005 and 2006.
