Bruno Fernandes has been named the Premier League Player of the Season after playing a major role in Manchester United securing Champions League qualification and a third-place finish.
The Portuguese midfielder added another major honour to his season after also winning the Football Writers’ Association Men’s Player of the Year award earlier this month.
Fernandes has enjoyed one of the finest individual campaigns of his career and became the first Manchester United player to win the Premier League’s top individual prize since Nemanja Vidic in 2011.
Fernandes Equals Premier League Assist Record
The 31-year-old equalled the Premier League single-season assist record after registering his 20th assist against Nottingham Forest last weekend.
Alongside his creative brilliance, Fernandes has also scored eight league goals in 37 appearances during the campaign.
The Manchester United skipper has created 132 chances this season, the highest in the league and 43 more than second-placed Dominik Szoboszlai of Liverpool.
His consistency, leadership and attacking output have been central to United’s strong finish under head coach Michael Carrick.
Strong Competition In Premier League Award Race
Several top performers were shortlisted for the award alongside Fernandes.
The list included David Raya, Declan Rice and Gabriel Magalhães from Arsenal, as well as Erling Haaland from Manchester City.
Morgan Gibbs-White of Nottingham Forest, Antoine Semenyo, and Igor Thiago of Brentford were also among the nominees.
The winner was decided through a combination of public voting and selections from a panel of football experts.
Manchester United End Season At Brighton
Manchester United will conclude their Premier League campaign with an away clash against Brighton & Hove Albion on Sunday.
With Champions League football already secured, Fernandes will now look to finish a remarkable personal season on a high note.
