North Korean side Naegohyang Women’s FC etched their name into Asian football history after defeating Tokyo Verdy Beleza 1-0 in the AFC Women’s Champions League final in Suwon, South Korea.

The tightly-fought final was decided moments before halftime when captain Kim Kyong Yong found the breakthrough in the 44th minute. The move started from the left wing as Naegohyang built a quick attacking transition before Kim calmly finished past the Japanese defence to hand her side the decisive lead.

Strong Defence Seals Historic Victory

After taking the advantage, Naegohyang showed remarkable defensive discipline in the second half. Tokyo Verdy Beleza pushed hard for an equaliser with several attacking moves, but the North Korean champions remained compact at the back and protected their narrow lead until the final whistle.

The victory marked Naegohyang’s first AFC Women’s Champions League title and also highlighted the growing strength of North Korean women’s football on the continental stage.

With this triumph, the North Korean club joins the list of elite women’s football teams in Asia and sends a strong statement ahead of future international competitions.
